Photo Friday: New Yarn!

All of this weaving has made me a little yarn obsessed. I've been searching through etsy and ebay listings, the local yarn shop...everywhere! The first (and largest) yarn order arrived on Wednesday and I couldn't be more excited. I also have to give a shout out to Dancing Leaf Farm on etsy for the AMAZING hand-dyed multi-colored yarn I received too (see first photo below). I can't wait to use it! I have a couple more hand-dyed skeins from another etsy shop on there way so more photos to come.

Oh, and I don't know if I need to mention this, but if you are in the market for a new scarf...I have a lot of colors on hand to choose from!!!

Photo Friday: A City Sunset

I decided to have a little fun with the sunset tonight. It was hazy because of the wildfires but it was still beautiful.

Here's how Seattle says 'good night'...

Just call me June Cleaver for the day...

I have to say, judging by today's activities, I would have made an excellent 1950's housewife. On top of my long morning walk with the pup, grocery shopping, cutting up strawberries and a couple watermelon, frying up a couple of eggs for breakfast (sunny side up!), doing laundry, and trying out a new crab cake recipe for dinner, I decided to try my hand at baking a fresh loaf of bread to use for the week. I was hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. I was ready to march right back up to the store and buy a loaf if it didn't turn out. Thankfully, though, it was perfect! The only, problem... we've eaten almost half of it already!

Here's my little journey to my lovely first loaf of homemade bread:

Mmmm...it was tasty and I can't wait to experiment some more. Here's to trying new things!

Photo Friday: A Sweet 'So long' to Summertime

There is a crispness in the air that I haven't felt in a while and although the trees are still green, it feels like it could be any minute before the leaves start painting the landscape with the rich colors of fall. Tuesday night I took our pup, Austin, out for a evening walk and decided to take my camera along...just in case!

Here's to the summer evening...

Our Pact to Try New Things: Kayaking

As of June, Erik and I have been in Seattle for four years...yes, FOUR YEARS! How did that happen? It has gone so fast and there is still sooooo much we haven't seen or done. We tend to stick around our neighborhood (or anywhere within walking distance) and don't explore as much as we should. We made a pact to try one new thing (big or small) every weekend. Whether it is something as small as trying a new place for lunch or as big as taking a road trip to Canada...we are going to take in every ounce of the Pacific Northwest!

Our adventure last weekend? Kayaking on Lake Union! Yeah, I'm pretty sure the guys working at the Agua Verde Paddle Club laughed at us as we very gracefully rowed away...but who cares! It was fun!

Keep checking back...we will see how long we can keep coming up with new things to do! Oh, and make sure to come back Friday for another "Photo Friday"!

Photo Friday: Yep, you guessed it...the Scarf

Enjoy my first ever 'Photo Friday' with my latest labors of love...

Next in line!!!

Five down and at least three more in line! I'll be posting them to my shop over the next few weeks so check them out there as well.

I might take a little break from the loom this weekend...so maybe there will be some scenic, outdoorsy photos to share next Friday!

My Craft Corner Evolution (part deux)

We have now been in our new place for exactly 6 months and I FINALLY have my new little craft corner up and running. I've been busy for the past few weeks weaving my evenings away to fill up the good 'ol Savannah's Sunshine Shop for the holidays. I know what you're thinking...it's only the beginning of September!!! In the world of handmade goods, I'm learning that September might be a little late to start stock piling my Etsy shop for those Christmas shoppers. I sat down a few weeks ago and mapped out a plan for the next couple months (and years...but that's a long story for another day!!) and I'm determined to be ready this year.

The first thing on to do list...set up shop!

The all important list of goals and some color inspiration...pretty pictures are a must have in this corner!
This is a warping board but when I'm not using it to measure out yarn, it displays
the scarves and rugs that are next in line
My big orange bucket of supplies and books

And here it is....my little corner...where the magic happens.

Number two on the to do list...start weaving!!! Check back soon to see some in progress photos!
